As its our 40th Anniversary in 2025 we thought we better bring Londoner Errol Linton & His Band “up north ” again, as he has been a regular for us, since the early 90’s. Dancing shoes are recommended !
Errol Linton carries the legacy of Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson into the twenty first century, moving the genre forward by combining 50s Chicago blues with gentle lilting Jamaican reggae rhythms.
He has been featured on radio and TV and his two albums have become British blues milestones, regularly spun on the radio by Andy Kershaw and Paul Jones, and his band was rated by the late Charlie Gillett as one of the UK’s greatest live bands. In the words of the late John Walters “Errol is as good a Harmonica player as anyone can reasonably hope to become, he is the real Deal.”
Having performed in the USA, Europe and up and down the U.K, after a few years away from live performing due to health, David’s unique style and sound is back. Inspired by Charley Patton, Rory Gallagher and Tom Waits, David & the Devil reimagines 100 year old blues music, with powerful steel guitars and a voice to match.
Previously known as ‘Charley Hicks’ with 10 releases all topping the blues charts in the UK and USA. The most recent EP release as David & the Devil ‘Muscular Dystrophy Blues’, which entered the ITunes Blues charts at 1 in the U.K. and 2 in the USA, captured the process of receiving and accepting a life changing diagnosis of Becker Muscular Dystrophy.
David and the Devil is now based in Newcastle and can be found back at it screamin’ and hollerin’ the blues.
