Ashley Campbell & her full band went down a storm again in Newcastle on her latest UK tour promoting their brand new album “Goodnight Nashville” . Her wonderful banjo and guitar playing, her partner Thor Jensen’s wonderful electric guitar work and harmonies & Ashley’s sweet sweet voice made her new old school country tunes quite remarkable. Not to mention Ashley’s ten gallon hat !! Bitter songs about dating , commenting on cheating men , texting their pretty exes to her latest single, the beautiful country harmony charmer “ I See You “ to strong poignant songs about her famous dad Glen’s struggles with dementia “Remembering” were all top draw

After the main set that lasted best part of 1 ½ hours Ashley’s two encore songs were a stunning banjo led version of her Dad’s classic “Gentle On My Mind ” and then the rocking old Johnny Cash stomper ” Folsom Prison Blues ” with the surprise guest, our very own Niles Krieger on fiddle. As if the night couldn’t get any better…… The appearance of a washboard by drummer extraordinaire Jack too, made the show so unique.
In support was local lad Sam Shields , with a deep dark edge to his voice, accompanied by Emma Robson and her high and lonesome voice and rhythm guitar. The Gillian Welch of the north east anyone ???
A very classy way to end the 40th year of Jumpin Hot Club , Ashley commenting ““Great crowd, Great venue Great sound”. Well, that will always do for us !!!
