It’s coming up 40 years since Newcastle’s unique live music promoter’s “The Jumpin Hot Club” began their quest to champion wholesome & good, specialist music to the humble folk of the north east. It began in 1985 as an acoustic pre -war blues club in The Bridge Hotel cellar bar , but after few week’s the club expanded to a broader plate, as they couldn’t find enough artists & Graham & Adam loved all kinds of music anyway ! So a diverse range of music, from Rockabilly, Country, Jazz, Blues, Ska/Reggae, Rock n roll, Singer-Songwriters, began to establish the club , locally, nationally then Internationally as the years rolled on bye Adding Festival’s to their agenda (Evolution, Summertyne, Fish Quay, Country Cantina) we bet that not many independent promoters have been around as long as Jumpin Hot Club, let alone just how many people have enjoyed live music at a J Hot Club event. So to celebrate they are putting on a 40th anniversary exhibition at St Mary’s Heritage Centre on Gateshead quayside with remarkably 40 year’s of archives ……
